Dog Day 2002 Goes Hawaiian
Sunday, July 28, 2002, 10:00 am to 4:00 pm

Put on your favorite Hawaiian shirt and bring your Schnauzer to this family event!  Enjoy a day in the park with your dog(s), visit with old friends, meet new friends, talk with breeders from the club and other dog owners about your breed and participate in fun activities with dogs in mind.  Don't forget to take a chance to win wonderful raffle items for dogs and people.

Bring your picnic lunch and beverage but save room for dessert, which the club will provide.  Make sure you and your dog are comfortable.  Bring something to sit/lay on (blanket, chair) and collar, leash, treats and exercise pen for your dog.  If your dog is unfamiliar with crowds of humans or other dogs you may also want to bring a crate to ease his/her stress.  Dogs must be on a leash or in an exercise pen at all times.

Dog Day 2002 Events

Canine Good Citizen Test: This test was developed by the American Kennel Club (AKC) to demonstrate that a dog can be well behaved. (click here to learn more about CGC – takes the person to the CGC section of the web site).

Rescue Parade: At the heart of SJMSC and one of the reasons this event means so much is to take a moment to showcase these special dogs and their proud new owners.  Meet the dogs and their families and learn about their stories.

Raffle: Purchase your tickets and drop them in the container of the prize you want to win.  This year's prizes include a keepsake throw designed for the American Miniature Schnauzer Club (AMSC), grooming basket, obedience basket, toy basket, people baskets, and more!

Fun Things To Do: After CGC is completed the performance ring will be set up with junps, tunnels and other obstacles so you and your dog can play.

Contest With Prizes:  Join in and have fun with other activities like "Dog Bowling" you'll laugh until it hurts), "Speed Recall" and "Dunking for 'Dogs". There will also be awards for the Oldest Miniature Schnauzer attending and the dog that traveled the farthest to attend. And we haven't forgotten the people participants – there will be a prize for the loudest Hawaiian shirt/outfit.
