Board Meeting, April 17, 1999 The board meeting of the San Joaquin Miniature Schnauzer Club was called to order at 7:30 P.M. by the president, Martin Goldberg, at the Fortune House restaurant in Sacramento, CA. The recording secretary was present. Attendees: Brenda Couey, Patricia O’Brien, Dan Durigan, Dorothy Anderson, Pam Satlof, Cleo Home, Martin Goldberg, Dennis Ross, Joe Ratto, Barbara Bender, Rebecca Galloway. Minutes: Brenda motioned to accept the February 27 minutes as published and Pam Satlof seconded; motion passed. Old Business Corresponding Secretary: Dan Durigan reported. He received an e-mail from Mack Ledgerwood welcoming the new club and advising us he is the webmaster for AMSC. Treasurer: Pam Satlof reported that the IRS has finally assigned our tax number and she has opened our checking account. We currently have $650.00. IT Committee: Marty Goldberg reported that the web has been up and stable for over a month. Membership: Brenda Couey reported. She has received the following applications and/or dues: Beverly Verna, Wendy Benjamin, Tom Merriman, Carlena Couey, and Barbara Bender. Newsletter: Dan Durigan reported. The newsletter will also be published on the web. Dan will be asking for names for the newsletter in the next edition. There will also be a traveling gourmet section and other travel information. Send Dan information on restaurants, hotels, and any favorite recipes to Dan for publishing. Fun Match: Brenda Couey reported. The first fun match is underway. We’ve already made $20.00 on the coverlet raffle! Pam Satlof will be the ring steward and Dan Durigan will be grounds guy. We’ll also have cake and punch. Some of the costumes being discussed are beyond creative! Come and have fun! New Business Nominations Committee: Marty Goldberg recommended that we establish the committee before we have to so they can begin work now. Rebecca Galloway, Joe Ratto, and Cecil Galloway will makeup the nominations committee. Second Fun Match: Patricia O’Brien reported. She and Rebecca Galloway are checking into having the next fun match Saturday night of the Yuba City dog shows. This fun match will include obedience so we can get experience to prepare for our first B-OB match. Public Awareness: Patricia O’Brien asked that if you have puppies to call and let her know. Availability will also be published in the newsletter and on the web site. Fund Raising: Dan
Durigan proposed our checking into the possibility of purchasing an airline
ticket for anywhere in the continental U.S. for two as another fundraiser
for the club. The Northern California Terrier Association did this and
it was very successful. Rebecca Galloway will check into costs and report
back.
Joe Ratto motioned to
adjourn the meeting and Brenda Couey seconded. The meeting adjourned at
8:10.

The recording secretary was present. Attendees: Dennis Ross, Brenda Couey, Beverly Verna, Dorothy Anderson, Rebecca Galloway, Patricia O’Brien, Pam Satlof, Dan Durigan, Joe Ratto, Martin Goldberg, Cleo Home. Welcome! The president welcomed everyone to our first general meeting of the club! Corresponding Secretary: Dan Durigan reported. The first fun match is underway and scheduled in conjunction with the Mensona Kennel Club dog show on May 8. We’ve received three entries but a number of commitments that people will be there and closing date isn’t until April 28. The raffle is underway for the coverlet. The tickets are $5 each or three for $10. You don’t have to be present to win and if you don’t have tickets, just get the person’s name and phone number. The ribbons have been ordered for this match plus one additional fun match. There are a number of creative costumes that will be paraded in the Spring Fling! There will be cake and punch for refreshments. Program Committee: Patricia O’Brien is checking into the next fun match in Yuba City. Marty Goldberg talked to our AKC representative about coming to talk to us and she said yes. Fund Raising: Dan Durigan discussed the fundraiser that the NCTA has successfully used. They purchased round trip tickets for two and then sold 1000 raffle tickets for $5 each. He will check further and report back to the club at the next meeting. Cleo Home motioned to discuss club activities that members would be interested in seeing scheduled and Joe Ratto seconded; motion passed. Several suggestions were given. A focus of the club needs to be to serve the public. Grooming seminars are another area that has a high degree of interest. We need to schedule several at different geographical locations. First aid classes for dogs were another area that is of interest. Brenda Couey asked that those people who have access to facilities call her with the particulars. Patricia O’Brien will check into the first aid class. Brenda Couey moved to table this motion for discussion again and Joe Ratto seconded; so moved. Joe Ratto motioned to
adjourn the meeting and Pam Satlof seconded. The meeting adjourned at 4:35.
