(immediately following the general meeting and potluck) Questions: Please call Pam Satlof at 925-427-2806 This practice session offers members and their dogs a fun, supportive practice session so they and their dogs can learn about certifying for the Canine Good Citizen (CGC) title. CGC focuses on ten behaviors that demonstrate "good citizenship" and is an excellent way to demonstrate the importance of responsible dog ownership. CGC is one of the fastest growing programs in the AKC and is gaining credibility and recognition throughout communities worldwide. Please come, bring your dog, and plan on having a relaxed and fun time while you learn. We’ll practice in an enclosed yard using long leashes to ensure safety, and control, during practice. For your information, the Golden Gate Kennel Club dog show scheduled at the Cow Palace February 5-6, 2000 is offering CGC certification. You don’t have to register until you go. AKC awards a certificate and your dog is recorded in AKC’s CGC Archive. There are usually other prizes to reward and encourage participation that are offered by sponsoring organizations. This practice session can help you prepare for certification at that show or a show in the future. CGC has also proven to be an excellent beginning training program for children.
