Board Meeting Minutes

 Sunday, February 13, 2000

Members present:  Marty Goldberg, Dorothy Anderson, Dan Durigan, Cleo Home, Joe Ratto, Dennis Ross, Pam Satlof.

President, Marty Goldberg at 12:05 P.M. at the home of Patricia O’Brien in Roseville, CA, called the meeting to order.

Pam Satlof moved and Dan Durigan seconded to accept the minutes of the last Board Meeting as published, December 19, 1999.  Motion passed.

Corresponding Secretary:  Dan Durigan received numerous requests for puppies that he passed on to Brenda Couey.  David Moore Rabido is interested in finding out if anyone has a dog with the similar cancer that his dog contracted. 

There was also a second request from a member requesting where to have a puppy’s first grooming.

 Chris Marino of “Animal Planet” sent a request for any Schnauzer stories that he could publish.

 A Canadian dog club has asked to use/print documents in our library.  The club policy will have the Corresponding Secretary inform anyone inquiring permission to publish materials developed by the San Joaquin Miniature Schnauzer Club (SJMSC) that they may do so as long as the SJMSC gets copyright credit and that it be a non-profit organization.

 Treasurer Report:  Pam Satlof reported that all original members, except two, have renewed their membership.  The checking account has $1,899.

 Northern California Terrier Association Catalog:  Dan Durigan moved and Dorothy Anderson seconded that the SJMSC take out a full-page advertisement in the “Northern California Terrier Association Catalog.”  Motion passed.

 Bev Verna E-mail:  Marty Goldberg read an e-mail from Bev Verna dated February 3, 2000.  The highlights of concern/discussion are:

 1.    Change the “Friend of the Club” (FOTC) membership agreement with our breeder/members to allow a FREE “Friend of the Club” membership with ALL puppies sold.  Free FOTC membership to beIncorporated in the “Take Home Package” for new puppy owners.  FOTC membership form to be completed by the breeder.  Completed FOTC form to be sent directly to the Membership Chairperson.  FOTC membership may be upgraded to “REGULAR” type membership anytime during the membership year at the current year Regular membership fee.

 2.    Why drop the “Referral Fee” since it is a good source income?

 3.    When was the Website Coordinator position established and who approved it?

 4.     A non-breeder should be the Puppy Referral person.

Membership Chairman:  Dennis Ross reported that we have a new member application from Bess Moffit, prospective Schnauzer owner residing in San Francisco.  Jeannie Tompkins, Miniature Schnauzer owner, from San Rafael membership application was previously received.  Sylvia Hammerstrom’s application was previously received and misplaced.  Sylvia is from Sebastopol and a replacement application will be required.  Sylvia’s membership fee has been received.

Newsletter:  Dan Durigan will publish February-March Newsletter the first week in March.

SJMSC at the Cow Palace:  Cleo Home stated that the Cow Palace Dog Show was a great success.  A special thanks to Dennis Ross for the layout and donation of the SJMSC “Public Awareness” business cards.  The business cards are partially responsible for the increase in the daily hits (20-40) on the SJMSC Website.  The club flyers on our grooming seminar in Santa Rosa, February 27, 2000 and the “How to Purchase a Miniature Schnauzer” flyer ran out.

 Dan Durigan moved and Dorothy Anderson seconded that the club reimburse Cleo Home for the expenses of the Club Banner and the fabric that was used for the cubicle backdrop at the Cow Palace Show.  Motion unanimously passed.

 Rescue Committee:  Pam Satlof moved and Dan Durigan seconded that up to $200 be spent on each rescue dog.  If more money is needed the Rescue Committee must come to the board for approval.  Motion unanimously passed.

 Dan Durigan moved and Pam Satlof seconded that the club will collect a “Bragging Rights Tax” of $1.00 from any member who brags in any form what-so-ever.  This will be known as a “Bragging Rights Tax.”  The monies will be earmarked for Rescue.  Motion unanimously passed.

 The Rescue Committee will research Veterinarians’ in our areas who will offer discounts for rescue dog well-checks/other Vet services in exchange for a listing on our Website.

 Breeder-Handler Committee:  Dennis Ross moved and Pam Satlof seconded that a Breeder-Handler Committee composed of all Breeder-Handlers of the club be chaired by Dan Durigan.  Motion unanimously passed.

 A.K.C. Accreditation:  Cleo Home moved and Pam Satlof seconded that the Board approve submittal of A.K.C. “Accreditation Binder” and request permission to hold the first “B” Match.  The binder will be submitted by March 1, 2000 pending any changes made by the Committee Heads.  Motion unanimously passed.

 Next Board Meeting:  Saturday, March 11, 2000 @ 5:30 P.M.  The meeting will be combined with a Potluck Dinner at the home of Marty Goldberg and Cleo Home in Danville.    

 Adjournment:  The meeting was adjourned at 2:55 P.M.

General Membership Meeting Minutes

 Sunday, February 27, 2000  

Members present:  Marty Goldberg, Brenda Couey, Dan Durigan, Cleo Home, Sherry McDowell, Joe Ratto, Dennis Ross, Pam Satlof.

Guests:
 Marcia Scott, Hal Hansen, Nikki Hansen, Michelle Mingus, Erv Rodemsky, and Joan Rodemsky.

President, Marty Goldberg at 1:00 P.M. called the meeting to order.  The meeting was held at the Leisure Park Club House in Santa Rosa.  Cleo Home moved and Brenda Couey seconded to accept the minutes of the last meeting as published.  The motion was unanimously passed.

Corresponding Secretary:  Dan Durigan plans to publish the next newsletter by March 3, 2000.  Marty Goldberg related that we have received e-mail correspondence from many areas, including New Brunswick, Canada, wanting to use our copyrighted publications available on our web site.  

Treasurer’s Report:  Pam Satlof indicated we have $1,172.89. Bills paid included:

            2.  Advertisement in “Northern California Terrier Association“          40.00

Membership Chairperson:  Dennis Ross stated the following applications for membership include:

Fun Match & Specialty:  Chairperson, Cleo Home related that we have a grooming seminar today and information on upcoming events will be posted on the SJMSC website.

Rescue Committee:  Sherry McDowell related there is a male miniature schnauzer to be rescued in Crescent City.

Accreditation Committee:  Cleo Home reports that the “Accreditation Binder” will be sent to A.K.C. by 03/01/00.

Obedience Trial:  Pam Satlof stated that the “Mount Diablo Training Club” is putting on an obedience trial, A.K.C. sanctioned on April 30, 2000.  Pam is paying for a trophy to be given at the trial in the name of the SJMSC.  The donated trophy will probably be awarded for the highest scoring miniature schnauzer.

Next General Membership Meeting:  Saturday, April 15, 2000 @ 6:00 P.M. at the Fish House in Sacramento.  Contact person is Patricia O’Brien.  Directions to the Fish House will be posted on the SJMSC website.

Adjournment:  The meeting was adjourned at 1:35 P.M.

Board Meeting Minutes

 Saturday, March 11, 2000

Members present:  Marty Goldberg, Dan Durigan, Cleo Home, Joe Ratto, Dennis Ross, Pam Satlof.

President  Marty Goldberg called the meeting to order at 6:05 pm.

Minutes of the last meeting:  Pam Satlof moved  to accept the minutes of the last Board Meeting as read.  Dan Durigan seconded.  Motion passed.

Report of the Corresponding Secretary:  Dan Durigan has received two requests for puppies.  He forwarded these request to Brenda Couey.

Treasurer's Report:  Pam Satloff stated that the club continues to operate within budget.

Membership Committee:  The board approved the "Friend of the Club Certificate" format to be the one on parchment paper with the gold border.  This certificate is given by all club breeders to everyone who purchases a puppy.

Fun Match Committee:  Cleo Home stated that a Fun Match is planned at the Mensona Dog Show in Santa Rosa.  A discussion was held on whether "tentative" events be placed on the calendar.  It was a consensus of the board to put the tentative events on the calendar.

Rescue committee:  Pam Satloff stated that the owners of the potential rescue dog in Yreka were reunited with their dog.  Thare are currently two rescue dogs in need of placement.  Pan Satloff will send an e-mail to all members of the club requesting members to contact the animal shelter in their area giving them our club Rescue Business Card.  The board agreed unanimously to create the Rescue Business Card.  The board approved for Dennis Ross to arrange for its printing.

Next Meeting:  The next Board Meeting will be held on April 15th, after the Terrier Group at the Sacramento State Fair grounds.  The next general meeting will be held at the Fortune House Restaurant at 6:00 pm

Adjournment:  Joe Ratto moved and Dan Durigan seconded to adjourn the meeting.  The motion passed unanimously.  The meeting was adjourned at 7:25 pm.
