Notes from your Web Master

From time to time the question comes up about who views our club’s website.  Our data shows that the site has been viewed over 25 times a day from all over the world since it started over a year ago.  In August, the site was visited 1282 times (that is about 40 times a day.)  About one third of these visitors come to us after using an Internet Search Engine.

Visitors have come to our site this year from:  Canada, Sweden, Singapore, Peru, Spain, Thailand, Taiwan, Columbia, Australia, Hong Kong, Korea, Finland, Sweden, United Kingdom, Japan, Denmark, Mexico, New Zealand, Netherlands, Brazil, Poland, Educational Institutions in the US, the US Government and the US Military.

On another note, beware of the e-mail viruses that you may be sending on.  Watch for the e-mail note from a friend that contains a message about “cash for beta testing an e-mail system”, “Some event will cost your money.  (Such as, the suggestion that the US government will tax all e-mails)”, etc. and usually ends up with a request for you to send it to all the people in your e-mail address book.  If you do send this note on, without verifying its authenticity, then you have just participated in an e-mail virus.  These viruses build on the pyramid scheme and can overload your email server and those of your friends.  So, before you blast out that note to everyone you know, make sure it is a valid cause.  Practice Safe E-Mailing; know the source of your e-mail content!  Don’t help an e-mail virus survive.
