The Golden Gate K.C. Report

If you didn't attend the 2001 Golden Gate Kennel Club Obedience and Conformation dog show at San Francisco's Cow Palace on February 3 and 4, you missed a great show and wonderful weather. Sunny skies and warm weather, not things usually associated with the Cow Palace show.  And lots of people and dogs!  The entry limit is 2150 dogs and limit is always reached.  The good weather also brought out people who love dogs.

A great big
thank you to those club members who donated their personal time and money to man the club booth.  This kind of event provides the opportunity to educate the public and allow exchange of information on the breed like no other.  It can be difficult for those entered to focus on preparing their dogs for competition while effectively talking with people who want to share stories about the dog they had, have, want, or are researching.  And, the booth was manned well enough that several members got to do the best activity around dog shows --- shop for dog stuff.  Golden Gate always has lots of vendors with lots of goodies that all good doggies should have.

SJMSC members entered in both obedience and conformation competition. Conformation exhibitors walked away with the championship points in both dogs and bitches!  Added to that was a Best of Opposite Sex.  Well worth the trip!  The dogs that won are:

Winners Dog/Best of Winners: Regency's Game Breaker
Winners Bitch: Carlena-Goldhome Talkabout It
Best of Opposite Sex: Carlena-Goldhome Like A Rock

Thanks again from the Program/Education Committee to everyone who participated in making this a successful club activity!  See you next year!
