President’s
Report:
Thank you to Pam Satlof and Cleo Home for leading the Dog Day Afternoon
event and to all of the volunteers. The
Board needs your help in ensuring the club provides services and programs
of interest to you so that the club remains of value to you and your dog.
THANK YOU to all of the special people who have rescued dogs and
joined us here today. The
primary responsibility of our club is to protect the breed.
The club does this in a variety of ways like education, rescue, and
social events like Dog Day Afternoon.
We need to continue seeking ways to encourage responsible dog
ownership and safeguard the breed.
Minutes
of the last meeting: Cleo Home motioned to accept the minutes as
published on the web site and Pam Satlof seconded; motion passed.

rescued 11 dogs to date in 2001. Pam

and encouraged people to speak to the families about the wonderful stories
and happy endings.

The club web site cost is stabilizing and we use a low cost
provider to manage costs. We
need ideas that will ensure the web site remains a resource to you.
Send pictures you take of today’s event to the webmaster and
they’ll be posted on the web site.
Recognition
and Awards: The following awards were presented:
Rainbow Bridge:
Presented to Sherry McDowell for her many years of dedicated service
working on behalf of Miniature Schnauzers to ensure that dogs in need were
rescued and placed in loving homes. Sherry
and her family recently moved out of state and her care and commitment to
the Miniature Schnauzers in California will be greatly missed.
Best of Breed:
Presented to our founding president, Martin Goldberg, for his unfailing
dedication and commitment to ensure that SJMSC succeeded over the past
three years. He has been a
driving force in helping the club grow and evolve into the successful
organization it is today.
Memorial: Dan Durigan
is a long time dog exhibitor and there are few shows during the year that
don’t see Dan arriving in his 1976 Chevrolet affectionately known as
“La Bamba”. Unfortunately
those days are over. “La
Bamba” passed on to car heaven after over 20 years of show dog hauling
in October of 2000 after having an untimely run in with another vehicle.
The only injury was La Bamba.
Mary Troia motioned to
adjourn the meeting and Dan Durigan seconded.
The meeting adjourned at 1:10.
Respectfully submitted,
Cleo Home, recording secretary
